Reflections
As I approach the end of this program and the journey it has led me on for the last 3 years, I realize now more than ever just how important reflection is to instructional process, but more than that, to how you evolve both in your professional and personal life. For reflection doesn’t just give you the opportunity to self-market or to say you have grown, but it allows you the opportunity to consider, to review, and to carefully think about how a project or an event has influenced your growth or change during a period of time. Prior to the start of this program, I thought I understood that and I was perfectly willing to provide general reflection when asked. However, it wasn’t until I completed the reflection piece of the research paper I produced for Project and Report, that I truly saw how I had grown by completing that project. As this paper and the events surrounding it didn’t come with complete and total successes and it wasn’t enough to say that I grew while reviewing the content, conducting the research, and writing the document. I had to acknowledge the successes and setbacks and ask the harder questions before I could see the effect that project had on me and the learning experience I had achieved by completing it.
